My beloved wife Virginia Jimenez Madlaing and I were blessed and fortunate to attend the viewing and memorial services for Manang Christina NativIdad Ridad last Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Duggan’s Mortuary in Daly City, California She died in her home last June 19, 2022 due to ovarian cancer at the age of 91.
It was God’s providence that Abe , owner of Abe Barber Shops located in Daly City and San Francisco, called last Thursday evening and informed me of the death of Manang Christina and the viewing on Saturday 4pm to 8pm at the Duggan’s Mortuary. It was also God’s providence that brother Terry Denis came with us for the viewing and memorial services immediately after the ACAPINOY (acapella singing of favorite gospel songs and heavenly hymns in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Ilocano, Pangasinan, Cebuano), the last segment of the global My Angel Radio San Francis, every Saturday, 11am to 3pm.
I have been acquainted with Manang Christina since the mid 80s, when I was still active publisher of the weekly PHILIPPINE EXAMINER. Manang Christina, who originally came from the province of Ilocos Norte in the Philippines, like my 103-year-old mother, Elena Sampayan Gabot Madlaing, was then very active in the community like her involvement in the Seniors Center. She coordinated and organized the activities for the annual Independence Day (June 12) and Friendship Day (July 4) where she invited me as one of the inspirational and guest speakers. Like myself, she had been active as licensed Real Estate Broker until she retired.
I have lost contact with her for several years until she called one evening last April and requested me to visit and pray for her. The following day, I visited her and prayed for her physical healing. During my succeeding visits in her home in Plymouth Avenue, San Francisco, California, Manang Christina shared her spiritual journey. She was very happy to know that I am now an active Evangelist with the GOLDEN GATE CHURCH OF CHRIST in San Francisco, California. I gave her autographed copies of my two best-selling books “HISTORICITY OF JESUS” subtitled “Facts and Evidences for Agnostics, Atheists, Believers and Christians,” and “LIFESTYLE FOR LONGEVITY” subtitled “How to be Healthy Emotionally, Financially, Sexually and Spiritually.” In my succeeding visit (together with brother Terry Denis) Manang Christina surprised us when we saw the autographed copies of the books “HISTORICITY OF JESUS,” “LIFESTYLE FOR LONGEVITY”, “JESUS CHRIST” and the Christian World Ministry Quarterly Journal prominently displayed on the table in her living room.
She told us that she wanted her children, grandchildren and those who will be visiting her to be able to read the books and the Christian magazine we gave her. She even brought out the idea that we MUST display the books “HISTORICITY OF JESUS”, “LIFESTYLE FOR LONGEVITY”, “JESUS CHRIST, ”Christian World Ministry Quarterly Journal in the two locations of ABE Barber Shop in Daly City and San Francisco, California. Her idea inspired us to start the BOOKS MINISTRY through Monthly GGCC Books Raffle in cooperation with the ABE Barber Shop locations in Daly City and San Francisco and the global My Angel Radio San Francisco.
Manang Christina explained to us that her greatest longing and desire is for her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends to know the gospel (Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus) which is the power of God to salvation (Romans 1:16) Through God’s providence, the desire and longing of Manang Christina was answered when brother Terry Denis shared the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, Acts 2:37-38, Romans 6:3-4, Acts 22:16) in its purity and simplicity during the viewing and memorial services last Saturday evening.. The brief message of brother Terry Denis was heard by the six children of Manang Christina namely: Francis Ridad, Michael Ridad, Edward Ridad, Ruelle Ridad, Jesus Ridad, Ruelle Ridad, their spouses, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and friends. Manang Christina confided to brother Terry Denis that she obeyed the gospel in baptism (Acts 2-38, Acts 22:16) in a river wayback in the Philippines.
I am glad that my beloved wife Virginia Jimenez Madlaing and I were able to sing “God ‘s Family” during the memorial services We were also able to sing together with brother Terry Denis “Victory in Jesus.” To support the gospel presentation of brother Terry Denis, I mentioned a brief quote in the “HISTORICITY OF JESUS” page 110, as follows: “The real tragedy is not that we die with COVID-19 and other sickness. The real tragedy is if we die without Jesus because we refuse to learn, understand and obey the gospel in baptism for the forgiveness of sins (Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 15:1-2, 2 Thessalonians 1-7-9, Acts 2:37-38, Acts 22:16); and fail to remain faithful until death (Revelation2:10)

Robert Eugene Buchanan, aka Bob Buchanan to many, specially among Filpino Christians, returned to His Maker at age 91 after more than 50 years of laboring in God's vineyard in many places, particularly in the Philippines.
Aside from having been an evangelist, Bob Buchanan served as Director of Philippine Bible College in Baguio City for many years before moving to Mindanao Island to help establish congregations in that area.
He was an eloquent speaker, not only in English, his native tongue but also in Ilocano, a dialect in Northern Luzon and in many other parts of the country.
Bob Buchanan was one of the most loved American missionaries in the Philippines as he was amiable, good natured and kind aside from many other admirable virtues as a man of God.
His FB profile reveals that he went to White's Ferry Road church in West Monroe, Louisianan, USA " School of Biblical Studies."
Along with his wife Barbara and children Vivian ( now Mrs Higgins), Colleen ( now Mrs Blasingame) and Bobby ( Frances), the Buchanans are the most admired and adored by Filipino Christians.
Surely, thousands will miss his earthly presence but shall expect to see him again at Christ's return.
Farewell for now brother Bob Buchanan and see you again someday. DAO ( 7-13-2022, Lapu- Lapu City, Mactan in Cebu, Philippines.

Although, his physical body was interred in a Memorial Park at Dasmariñas City, brother Ed's good works, humility and leadership in the church and in the goverment, will forever remained in the hearts and minds of all who truly admired and loved him.

person.
God be praised for as a teacher and a preacher, Dick Andogan Baguieon and his wife Angelita Alcalde, had raised two lovely daughters who are faithful members of the Lord's church.
Gorgonio Santos Padilla ( aka George) orginally of Pasig, Rizal, now a resident of 68 Purok VIII, Scout Barrio, Baguio City, was born on December 9, 1928.
As such, he can be considered one of the oldest, perhaps, the oldest member of the Lord's church in the Cordillera Administration Region today.
His father who hailed from Guinobatan, Albay in the Bicol Region went to Manila after World War I to seek for employment. Hence, George was born in Pasig in 1928.
Adventurous as he is, George landed a job in Camp John Hay in Baguio City from 1951 to 1987 becoming an administrative assistant, a technician and serving in other capacities. In 1987 at age 59, he opted for an early retirement having work for 36 years only.

Now at age 93, George continues studying the Bible at his Scout Barrio reaidence with Josias Aquino, Dan Oliva and Lito Olivares.
His earnest prayer is to live more years so that he can share the pure New Testament gospel with his family, relatives and friends.
The new generation of Filipino Christians, the so called "millenials" may only have heard of Felix R. Garlitos as preacher in Mindanao and in Luzon areas.
Born on April 23, 1936 before the Second World War ( WWII 1942-1946), Felix Garlitos, as a young man, became a Christian through the influence of his grandfather.
As he grew older and developed spiritually, the likes of Laureano Belo and Cornelio Alegre as pioneer preachers in Mindanao had inspired Felix to become a gospel proclaimer.
Migrating to the National Capital Region and living in Quezon City with his family, he became more active in helping and developing churches of the Lord in that area.
Along with Daton Palitayan of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, Felix faced some of the early preachers and debaters of the locally organized group- the " Iglesia Ni Cristo, 1914" ( INC, 1914) in public discussions defending and " contending for the faith," Jude 1:3.
He was not only a preacher and debater, but was also a voluminous writer in Pilpino language. A lasting testimony to his journalistic prowess was " Ano Ang Cristianismo" a translation of " What Is Christianity?" copyright 1997 and written by Joel Stepthen Williams, Ph.D.
Felix became a full time preacher of a congregation in Quezon City but he continued to help and develop other churches of the Lord through his informative and inspiring messages.
He attended a New Life Behavior seminar offered by Hillery Motsinger along with other preachers and church workers of the National Capital Region and neighboring provinces.
At age 75, Felix returned to His maker last December 19, 2011. As tribute to his contributions to various churches through his preaching, debates and writings, below are quotations from fellow Christians:
Edgardo Maquling ( aka Maq Gary) December 20, 2011" Rest now thy tired feet, dear soul and, be awake at the dawn's new day! Thy goodness will always be remembered, not by me alone, not by your friends alone, but by Him, the One who inspires us to keep on. Our laborsome ministries will continue, till we all see each other again! So long, brother!"
RJ Price ( April 25, 2011) " How are you? It is good to see you here, (FB) it has been 20 something years or so."
Hillery M. Motsinger ( August 2, 2009) " Thanks for joining Facebook. This will be only for those who have graduated from our NLBI seminar and are certified as either an instructor or trainer." HM
A March 5 FB post of John Dionio Jr. Director of PBC in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, revealed the passing away of Ray Wilson.
Churches of Christ in the Philippines, particularly in Nueva Vizcaya and nearby provinces mourned the demise of Ray Wilson who had helped several congregations in the country.
One such local church is in La Trinidad, Benguet which the late brother visited and helped in the past.
According to brother Art Madlaing, the late Ray Wilson helped Golden Gate church in California, USA in her Book Ministry, i
Tony Tiang, a Chinese mestizo, businessman and elder of the Binalonan church in Pangasinan, recently passed away due to a lingering illness.

Rubejes Calosa- Dumawa/ Mc Lean, 84 years old, joined her Maker on November 17, 2021.
Sister Ruby, as she was fondly called, was one example of a godly woman who raised her five children as exemplary children of God.
An alumna of Philippine Bible College, sister Ruby first married the late evangelist/ preacher Victorino Dumawa. A widow, she raised her five children as disciples of Christ.
Rolly, the eldest graduated from the Philippine Military Academy and retired as a colonel from the army; Rachel works with the Commission on Audit in Baguio City; Delia, a chemist, works in the USA; Nelly married a preacher/ evangelist Arnan Bayla and works as a Principal of Baguio Pines Family Learning Center; Phillip is now a preacher/ evangelist of a Metro- Manila congregation and is married to the former Helen T. Cariaga, a preacher's daughter.
The eulogies of her six grandchildren during the wake at the Baguio church of Christ auditorium last November 25, 2021, were testimonies of her holy life.
Her earthly body was laid to rest at the Garden of Peace of Pyramid Memorial Park after messages were given by Arnan A. Bayla and Erasto Fuentes,Jr.
Solomon's statement " Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6" can be a fitting epitaph for the beloved sister Rubejes Calosa- Dumawa/ Mc Lean.

Ms. Mildred Ward & Family
717 Scott Street
San Francisco, CA 94117
On behalf of the Brown Family Matters Reunion Committee, we would like to extend our deepest and heartfelt condolence to you, her son Tutu, and the rest of the immediate family. Another leaf has fallen from our family tree.
Toni’s spirit shall continue to fertilize our hearts with love. She always displayed Christ like characteristics, never criticizing but always uplifting and correcting unacceptable behavior with love. She was quite ambitious, believing that nothing is impossible if you put your trust in God.
Toni, held the title of Executive Administrator of Information on the reunion committee. A title that was “self-appointed†and she performed her duties and responsibilities with such zeal. It was her utmost desire to ensure that the family reunion would materialize and that we will all rekindle the love (and family unity) that our forefathers showed for one another by breaking bread, playing and praying together.
Mildred, your loss affects all of us, in different ways, but we can rest assured that her labor was not in vain. She planted seeds of love in everything she did or said. We are thankful for the footprints she left in each of our hearts. We pray as a family for Toni’s sake, that we can learn to forgive and forget the hurts of the past and move forward to the future in love because The Brown’s Family tree is getting sparse and unforgiveness may cause our tree to go barren and die too.
May God continue to comfort each of you during this time as Toni’s soul rest in perfect peace.
Much Love, BFM Reunion Committee
Virginia and I received an unexpected news that her cousin Pacita
Jimenez, a retired school principal in Cabilocaan, Calasiao, Pangasinan,
Philippines died last Monday at the age of 76.
Our beloved Sister
Pacita stayed with us in our home in San Francisco, California for several
years before she returned to the Philippines for good.
As a retired school
principal, we commend her humility and desire to have WE CARE Gospel
presentation with us. Her openness and interest to know the BIBLE (Basic Instructions
Before Leaving Earth)
is worthy of emulation.
Unfortunately, several
of her co-teachers who are living here in San Francisco Bay Area and those
living in Calasiao, Pangasinan, Philippines, refused our invitations to have WE
CARE gospel presentations with them. In fact, one of her co-teachers residing
in the North Bay refused our invitation for WE CARE Gospel presentation. She
died ahead of our Sister Pacita last month due to cancer without knowing, understanding
and obeying the gospel in baptism for the forgiveness of sins (read Romans
1:16, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, Acts 2: 38).
During our series of WE
CARE gospel presentations, Sister Pacita understood that Jesus is the Christ the
Son of the Living God (read Matthew
16:18, NKJV); that Jesus is 100% God and 100% man (read John 1:1, John 1:14, NKJV); and that
Jesus is the only true Mediator between God and man (read 1 Timothy 2:5, NKJV).
Sister Pacita fully
understood that the gospel is the power of God to salvation. Romans 1:16, NKJV says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for
the Jew first and also for the Greek (or Gentiles).â€
She also fully understood
the historical facts of the gospel (DBR or Death,
Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ). 1
Corinthians 15:1-4, NKJV reads, “I
declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and
in which you stand by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word
which I preached to you --- unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you
first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the
third day according to the Scriptures.â€
Sister Pacita fully
understood the urgency of obeying the gospel for the forgiveness of her sins. Acts 22:16, NKJC, says, “And now why are you waiting? Arise and
be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.â€
She also understood the
danger and eternal damnation of those who do not know God and refuse to obey
the gospel in baptism. 2 Thessalonians
1:7-9, NKJV, reads, “You who are
troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His
mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God
and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall
be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from
the glory of His power.â€
On June 16, 2016, Sister
Pacita decided to obey the gospel in baptism for the forgiveness of her sins;
and received the gift of the Holy Spirit (read Acts 2:38, NKJV). Because we didn’t have hot water at the
Golden Gate Church of Christ baptistery, she was baptized by our nephew
Nathaniel Jimenez Tuliao at the baptistery of the Lake Merced Church of Christ
in San Francisco, California. The angels in heaven rejoiced with us (Bro.
Marcus Dancer, Bro. Terry Denis, Virginia and I) who witnessed the
baptism.
Through the years,
Sister Pacita had been a faithful Christian woman. She attended Bible classes
and worship services with us at the Golden Gate Church of Christ in San
Francisco. When we were in Calasiao, she attended the worship services with us
at the Calasiao Church of Christ in Cabilocaan, Calasiao, Pangasinan,
Philippines despite her physical condition and difficulty in walking.
YES, Sister Pacita remained faithful until death (Rev. 2:10). We shall see you in heaven, Sister Pacita.

Peñaranda, all in Nueva Ecija.
Though a carpenter by occupation, the late
brother used his bible knowledge, obtained from Philippine Bible College in
Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, to good use.
In some ways, Rey Cabiles could be compared to
Apostle Paul who supported himself as he preached the gospel of Christ.
Leaders and members of the Lord's church
in Nueva Ecija said their good byes to brother Rey Cabiles as they witnessed
his "physical body turned to ashes." DAO
Juanita Robertson, 88 years old, a retired professor of City College in San Francisco, California joined her Maker last June 26, 2021 at her home after battling lung cancer for some months.

Church members James Quitoriano, Art and Virgie J. Madlaing, and Terry Denis often visited her on Sundays for fellowship and communion. In response, she would delight them with songs she composed and comforting testimonies of God's words to her life.
Months before she joined her Maker due to complications from COPD, sister Virgie J. Madlaing would stay in her home and at times remained there overnight to attend to her needs.
Several weeks before the doctors said that sister Juanita had only three weeks to live, her daughters Dawne and Deena took care of her until she finally rested with the Lord.

In his lifetime and as a church member, brother Bernie was an active worker for the Lord in preaching, teaching and in bringing souls to Christ.
Zambales Preacher Sleeps in the Lord
Miguel Ebalan, 79 years old ( aka Mike) passed away recently succumbing to a lingering illness.
Ebalan was born on September 29, 1942 at Masinloc, Zambales. He finished a course at Philippine International Bible Institute, Olongapo City, a training program for evangelists supported through the efforts of Charles Smith, an American Missionary to the Philippines in the decade of 1960-1970.

Ebalan preached in several places in Zambales and in Pampanga, strengthened churches and encouraged young people mainly to serve the Lord.
Truly, he was an action man in his younger years and was an inspiration to many for his dedicated services to the Lord and to many congregations in Zambales and Pampanga.
Warlito Casares, 76 years old of San Isidro, Nueva Ecija recently passed away mainly on complications with his heart and other illnesses.
Casares was one of the earliest members of Cabanatuan church in 2003 who became a Christian with his wife Gloria, a government employee working with the local Commission on Audit.
The Casares couple obeyed the gospel of Christ through the joint efforts of Jun Abaya, Weddy Gaballo, Danny Oliva and others.
Brother Warlito is survived by his wife Gloria and son Deo Casares who works with the Philippine National Bank branch in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
The local church, relatives and friends of Warlito Casares will surely miss him for he was a faithful member and well loved by the brotherhood.
Proof of his faithfulness to Christ and His church was the fact he had to travel two hours from San Isidro to Cabanatuan City every Sunday to attend and actively participate in church worship services.
Casares also participated in the local church's evangelistic activities and financially supported both the full time and visiting preachers.
Truly, Warlito Casares, a government employee of Cabanatuan City working with the assessor's office in his lifetime, was indeed " faithful" to Christ until death, Revelation 2:10.
