Christian World Ministry "..the churches of Christ salute you" Romans 16:16
Introduction:
1.
Campaigning for political office, civil
lawsuits, competing in the business community, pursuing civil suits, university
academics, arguing and warring among nations – so many times reflect personal
arrogance in the lives of individuals.
2.
Every action undertaken, every practical
decision made, every effort promoted within the church ought to be approached
in the absence of strife, that is, without the intention of creating contention or hurt feelings
among other Christians.
Discussion:
1. How
may such pride be avoided?
a) First, Christians must possess
“lowliness of mindâ€.
b)
Second,
Christians must “esteem others better than themselvesâ€.
2.
Jesus demonstrates the humility that we
Christians are to possess and apply.
a)
He humbly, willingly, and submissively
relinquished divine equality in order to
become a human being.
b)
His willingness to be subjected to the
humiliating treatment associated with the cross.
c)
Even when Jesus manifested righteous wrath
or uncompromising intolerance, His behavior
conveyed control.
d)
He remained humble while engaging in
war-like expressions of the divine will.
e)
In the midst of a horrible death, Jesus
maintained a controlled humility.
Conclusion:
1.
May we approach our daily living and the
interactions which we have with family, business associates, classmates, and
fellow Christians upon the basis of these Biblical principles.
2.
May we behave within our churches the way Jesus
behaved in Jewish and Roman courts.
3.
For then we will live fulfilled lives and make
Christ the example of humility of our lives.
