Christian World Ministry "..the churches of Christ salute you" Romans 16:16
And comfort sometimes is obtained from the family, relatives, friends and fellow Christians.
The best source of comfort is from the peace of God. Why? Because the comfort from this world can not make us truly happy and contented.
For instance, in Matthew 5:4, Jesus said " Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted."
The source of comfort when we are sorry for our sins is God Himself. His forgiveness, love and grace are more worthy than all the comforts we can obtain from this world.
Jesus Himself said. " Peace I leave with you: not as the world gives... Let not your hearts be troubled or be afraid, " John 14:27.
Why is worldly peace incomplete and unsatisfying? Because the world' s comfort and peace are only physical, passing and incomplete.
Paul wrote. " And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and hearts through Christ Jesus," Philippians 4:7.
Again in I Thessalonians 4:18, the apostle said to the saints ...comfort one another" on the thought that "we shall ever be with the Lord."
Jesus' words in John 14:3 "...I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you will be also " are most assuring and comforting to all His disciples.
Apostle John was commanded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to write "words of comfort" to the persecuted Christians in Revelation.
Note the following verses which apply not only to the First Century saints but also to us in the Twenty First Century, " ..
to him that overcomes I will give to eat of the Tree of Life..." Revelation 2:7.
" Be faithful unto death and I will give you a crown of life," Revelation 2:10
Similar statements written by John with the guidance of the Holy Spirit are truly " comforting words" coupled with the spiritual peace that God gives to all the saints.
