Christian World Ministry "..the churches of Christ salute you" Romans 16:16
Have we heard the annoying clanging of cymbals without harmony?
Have we been so familiar with the Bible where finding each verse is easy?
Do we have FAITH that can move objects?
Have we been doing mighty good works for the poor?
God said what it looks like, and these are good if we posses the right LOVING attitude!
What is God's definition of LOVE?
Paul described it like this:
"Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it is not proud, does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." (vv 4-8).
He speaks of a Greek term "agape" which means selfless LOVE, as distinguished from sexual desire ("eros") and brotherly love ("phileo").
Godly love is an action towards what Christians do or do not do!
Love is "patient" when it enduringly or actively waits for others (without resentment) in the face of being hurt or mistreated.
Love is "kind" (when beyond mere politeness), it acts for the good of others even when it does not benefit self.
Love "does not envy" any spiritual gifts and financial success of others, setting aside SELF but celebrating the successes of fellowmen.
Love "does not boast" in self-promotion, but praising God's work and other believers, instead.
Love is "not arrogant" or "puffed up", or over-confident in oneself above all others, and an expectation that everyone else should feel the same way.
Love removes the obstacle of SELF from the purpose of serving others well.
