On the first
of September, 2020, our HR personnel called and reminded me to pay the traffic
penalty that I incurred. I was surprised as I couldn't recall an instance (from
2016 to 2020) that I have violated traffic rules. The guy told me, as per CCTV
footage, on the 27th of August, 2020, the company car I am using was parked
diagonally in front of a restaurant and that I needed to pay an amount of 100
SR (PH1,250 - PH1,300) as a penalty. I didn't argue and just told him, "NOTED."
Again, on the
14th September, 2020, I received a call from our HR, telling me that I have a
new traffic violation, and that I needed to pay 3,000 SR. I almost jumped from
my seat. 3,000 SR (Ph 37,500 - Ph 39,000) is no joke! It is a HUGE amount,
considering that it will be wasted in paying for a mistake - a traffic
violation! I asked the HR guy what the nature of my violation was, and he said,
"Passing the Red Light, on 4th September, 2020."
Mind you, 4th
September was a Friday.
I was somewhat
troubled after hearing it and, even in my quiet times, I kept thinking,
remembering, and checking my memory to figure out where I had gone wrong. I am
attentive with my speed limits, much more with passing the red light, and on a
Friday? Usually, I avoid going out on a Friday, because it is the only
non-working day that I have in a week - my only day of physical rest. So, I
verified from my diary what I did on that day. True, indeed, I was out with my
son to process the re-connection of our fiber optic internet connection. But I
have no record in my listings of any untoward violation, most especially if I
passed a Traffic Red Light.
Since my diary
and memory weren't of use in this particular situation, I decided to visit and
verify with the Traffic Division the following day. I brought along two Arabic
translators (my friends) so we won't waste time communicating.
As I waited
for my turn, I can hear other people gasping in awe as they watched the CCTV
footage of their respective violations on a larger screen. I closed my eyes and
the scene reminded me of the coming Judgment Day!
All of us will
appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ on the last day (Hebrews 9:27; 2
Corinthians 5:10). Concerning that Judgment Day, John wrote, “And I saw the
dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another
book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of
those things which were written in the books, according to their works… And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of
fire†(Revelation 20:12, 15).
Clearly, God’s
Book of Life will be a relevant volume on that day! Nobody could contest
against it. Being the ALMIGHTY, He knows the number of our hairs (Matthew
10:30) and even the secret emotions of our hearts (Romans 2:16). When this time
comes, there is no disputing against God's judgment!
The Judgment
Will Include...
• 1) Our
Thoughts----Matthew 5:27 (KJV) Ye have heard that it was said by them of old
time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever
looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already
in his heart.
2) Our
Words----James 1:26 (KJV) If any man among you seem to be religious, and
bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is]
vain.
3) Our
Deeds----2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV) For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body,
according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.
4) Our
Failures TO DO----James 4:17 (KJV) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good,
and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.
