Introduction
A. A virus deadlier than covid-19 is the Sin Virus.
1..Why deadlier than covid-19?.Let us know the truth, John 8:32
2. We shall study the reasons Sin Virus is deadlier and its remedies/ solutions.
Discussion
A. It is deadlier than covid-19 for the following reason:
1. Matthew10:28 states that " we have to fear God who can kill/ destroy both body and soul in hell."
2. Sin, like the pandemic covid-19 virus, attacks our spiritual immune system, weakens our resistance to sin and takes over the whole being- body, mind, heart and soul.
3. What is sin? It is the violation of God's law, I John 3:4
4. Two kinds of sin ( a) commission, I John 3:4 (b) omission, James 4:17
5..How does sin develop like a virus?
6. James 1:14-15 " a person is tempted because of his desires, I John 2:15-16)
7. When his desire conceives, it gives birth to sin and sin when it is full grown results to spiritual death.
8. Death is spiritual separation from God. We are separated from God because of our sins, Isaiah 59:2
9. Death occurs when the spirit separates from the body, James 2:26
10.Sin of having evil friends corrupts good morals, I Corinthians 15:33.
11. Jeremiah 17:9 " the heart is deceitful above all things."
12. Our hearts can be deceived and can accept "sin" as good and acceptable.
13. Therefore, the heart " must be renewed or purged from evil or falsehood and be filled with truth, Romans 12:2
B. Results of the Sin- Virus
1. Romans 6:23 " the wages of sin is death.."
2.What is spiritual death? It means" eternal suffering, condemnation or punishment of the soul in hell."
3. Also called " second death" in the lake of fire and brimstone
Revelation 2:11 and 20:14
Revelation 21:8 lists the people who will go to the lake of fire and brimstone
4. Many do not believe this and persist in sin ( remain infected with sin virus)
5. Delay of punishment/ judgment deceive many into thinking that God will not punish evil doers in hell
6. In 2 Peter 3:9, we read of God's patience because He does not like anyone to perish but that all should repent. John 3:16, Luke 13:3, 5
Conclusion
A. To avoid being infected with the sin virus, we should do the following:
1. We should put on the whole armor of God, Ephesians 6:10-13
2. Make our immune system strong
3. Social distancing by " coming out from among them," 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
B. Full protection from sin virus ( be free from sin through God's forgiveness, continuous cleansing and protection)
1. Accept that you are a sinner, Romans 3:23
2. Believe the gospel. Romans 1:16, Mark 16:16
3..Repent and be baptized, Acts 2:38
4. Jesus is inviting you now, Matthew 11:28-30
