Christian World Ministry "..the churches of Christ salute you" Romans 16:16
Introduction
A. When Jesus was still on earth, He taught people the virtues of love, kindness and many other things.
1. After His resurrection and ascension to heaven, His teachings remained in the hearts and minds of people in the form of symbols.
2. And these symbols are living marks or proofs of His teachings that we shall be discussing on Sundays.
Discussion
A. The Symbol of the Dreadful Sin, Romans 8:3; Genesis 5:24
1. The shackles of sin were shattered leading to spiritual freedom in Christ
2. Let us then dutifully follow Christ continuing our battle against sin
3. Soon, we shall realize that "life on earth" is only worth living when we serve God, our Father, with all our hearts
B. The Symbols of Compassion and Love, Ephesians 5:2; John 13:34-35
1. He showed love and compassion to many who needed His help by acts of healing, casting out demons and many others
2. It is by love that He suffered a lot for all humanity
3. To man, His sufferings would be unbearable
4.Taking all the punishment of death on the cross for our sins- was truly an act of love
C.The Symbol of Aspiration and Hope, Acts 4:12; 2 John 9-11
1. Amidst all the confusion, suffering, hurt and destruction in the world, Jesus left us the Symbol of Hope
2. Hope that someday, with all our hard work in upholding the Gospel, we can still find peace and solitude
3. Anyone who abides in His doctrines, has both the Father and the Son abiding in Him
D. The Symbol of Encouragement, 2 Corinthians 8:9; Philippians 2:3-5
1. After Christ returned to our heavenly Father, all His earthly deeds and teachings created a spark in the hearts and minds of His disciples
2.He encouraged us all to become the best versions of ourselves patterned after Him
3. To continue His work on earth through us His disciples
- to be better persons
- to give ourselves to others
- to walk in humility
Conclusion
A. These symbols are very important to remember as they show how much Jesus loved and sacrificed for us
1. They are not meant only to be followed but to be appreciated as He fought and won over sin and death
2. They also show His overflowing love for us His children
3. They show that through Him only we can have hope and victory in this life
4. Lastly, these symbols inspire us to move forward, as well as inspire others to move forward with us- Gilford Denis, RP, June 20, 2022
